Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his party’s victory in the country’s parliamentary elections. PM Modi expressed eagerness to enhance the ties between India and Armenia. Pashinyan’s Civil Contract Party secured a significant win in the recent elections in Armenia.

PM Modi’s message followed the victory of Pashinyan’s party in the Armenian parliamentary elections. The Civil Contract Party received nearly 50% of the votes, as per preliminary data from the Central Electoral Commission. This win signifies the continued trust of the Armenian people in Pashinyan’s leadership.

Lieutenant General Edvard Asryan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, recently visited India. During his visit, discussions were held on strengthening defense cooperation and expanding military engagement between India and Armenia. Lieutenant General Asryan also met with various Indian defense officials to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Armenia played a crucial role in evacuating Indian nationals from Iran earlier this year during tensions in the region. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed gratitude towards Armenia for facilitating the safe evacuation of Indian fishermen. Armenia’s support in ensuring the safety of Indian nationals in conflict-affected areas was acknowledged by the Indian government.
