The win, achieved against Karnataka at the Hubli Cricket Ground, marked a significant milestone after 67 years of the team’s participation in the prestigious domestic tournament. PM Modi commended the team’s determination, discipline, and passion, hailing it as a moment of pride for the region.
Jammu & Kashmir’s historic triumph was sealed through a dominant first-innings performance, where they amassed 584 runs led by Shubham Pundir’s century. The team’s bowlers, spearheaded by Auqib Nabi Dar’s five-wicket haul, restricted Karnataka to 293 runs, establishing a commanding lead. Despite a strong bowling attack from Karnataka in the second innings, Jammu & Kashmir’s Qamran Iqbal and Sahil Lotra’s impressive batting further solidified their position, ultimately resulting in a draw and a memorable victory.
PM Modi emphasized that this achievement not only celebrates the team’s success but also signifies the region’s burgeoning sporting talent and enthusiasm. He expressed hope that this milestone would inspire young athletes in Jammu and Kashmir to pursue their sporting dreams with determination and confidence, encouraging a new generation of sports enthusiasts.
