To Lam was confirmed as Vietnam’s President for the 2026-2031 term by the National Assembly, with unanimous support from all 495 deputies present. Lam, who previously held the position from May 2024 to October 2024, is a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.
India and Vietnam enjoy a strong bilateral relationship marked by a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The ties between the two countries were upgraded to this level during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016. Both nations are actively working to enhance their multi-dimensional cooperation, with a focus on peace, prosperity, and people.
