Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of technical textiles in the footwear industry. He mentioned a piece by Union Minister Giriraj Singh, noting that technical textiles are already deeply embedded in footwear manufacturing. The focus now is on recognizing, organizing, and expanding this integration to enhance the technical textiles ecosystem within the footwear sector.

Singh emphasized that technical textiles are crucial for India’s footwear industry growth, driving innovation, enhancing performance standards, and boosting exports. He stressed the need to unlock the sector’s potential globally through structured growth, where technical textiles will play a significant role. Singh praised PM Modi’s leadership and India’s manufacturing capabilities, workforce, innovation, and sustainability efforts that can propel the nation to the forefront of the global value chain.

Consumers are increasingly seeking comfortable and high-performance footwear, where technical textiles play a vital role. Integrating the footwear industry more explicitly into the technical textiles ecosystem can spur innovation, elevate exports, and create quality jobs in the country. Singh highlighted the importance of materials design and performance in bridging the gap in India’s global footwear exports and emphasized the role of technical textiles in achieving this shift.
