Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Somnath Temple during the ‘Somnath Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations in Gujarat’s Prabhas Patan. He highlighted the temple as a symbol of India’s enduring spirit and civilizational consciousness. PM Modi emphasized the temple’s significance in showcasing India’s ability to rise despite centuries of destruction and invasions.
The Prime Minister expressed the special atmosphere at Prabhas Patan and commenced his address with chants of “Jai Somnath” and “Har Har Mahadev.” He described the divine presence at the temple, including the beauty, art, music, Vedic mantras, and the roar of the sea waves. PM Modi noted that the event marked 75 years since the consecration of Lord Mahadev at the reconstructed temple, symbolizing a thousand-year journey of immortality.
PM Modi recounted the temple’s history of resilience against invaders like Mahmud of Ghazni and Alauddin Khilji. He emphasized the temple’s ideological strength and its ability to withstand repeated attacks. The Prime Minister underscored India’s spiritual traditions, highlighting the immortal soul concept and the significance of Shiva as the soul of all beings.
Referring to historical figures associated with Somnath’s preservation, PM Modi paid tribute to their contributions. He also mentioned the expansion of facilities for devotees at pilgrimage centers, including developments around Somnath. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of connecting with India’s roots while embracing modernity, as exemplified by the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav.
