Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting at Seva Teerth in New Delhi with Secretaries from various Central government ministries and departments. The meeting focuses on discussing the reform agenda, emphasizing next-generation administrative and economic reforms such as ease of doing business, digital governance, deregulation, and last-mile delivery.
In attendance are the Cabinet Secretary, along with the two Principal Secretaries to the PM, P.K. Mishra and Shaktikanta Das, and Secretaries from key departments. This meeting, one of the first full-Secretary-level interactions with the PM in the current fiscal year, aims to align the bureaucracy with crucial policy priorities for the latter half of 2026.
The agenda includes advancing the government’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by simplifying regulations, promoting ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, and enhancing administrative efficiency across ministries and departments. This marks the Prime Minister’s second comprehensive interaction with the country’s top civil servants, focusing on the flagship reform agenda and measures to enhance the Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living.
Discussions are expected to revolve around the government’s reform initiatives, progress updates on structural reforms, and areas needing attention for timely execution of key policy initiatives. The Centre’s recent launch of the “52 Reforms in 52 Weeks” initiative, emphasizing measurable outcomes within set deadlines, adds significance to the review process, aiming to accelerate reforms for improved public service delivery and business ease.
The meeting offers ministries a platform to evaluate progress, tackle implementation hurdles, and enhance coordination to expedite reforms that benefit public service delivery, reduce regulatory burdens, and improve the ease of doing business and living standards for citizens.
