Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of Japan as a crucial partner for India. He expressed confidence in the strengthening of ties between New Delhi and Tokyo, with a focus on technology collaboration. PM Modi highlighted various key areas of discussion during his meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, including technology, innovation, AI, defence, security, and pharmaceuticals.
PM Modi outlined the shared vision for economic cooperation, aiming for 10 trillion Yen of Japanese investment in India over the next decade. He also emphasized the goal of doubling the number of Japanese companies operating in India. The leaders convened for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit talks to review and enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Both Prime Ministers acknowledged the pivotal role of technology partnership in driving the collaboration between India and Japan. They issued a Joint Statement on AI cooperation and witnessed the signing of agreements between leading Indian and Japanese institutions in the AI sector. Discussions also encompassed energy cooperation, people-to-people ties, and educational collaboration.
Prime Minister Takaichi underscored India’s importance as a key partner in advancing the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) initiative. Looking ahead to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, both nations pledged to contribute to the prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region and the global community. The leaders also deliberated on regional developments, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific region.
