The Government of India initiated the celebration of National Civil Services Day in 2006 in New Delhi at Vigyan Bhawan. This day commemorates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s address to the newly-appointed officers of the Indian Civil Services in 1947, where he referred to them as the “Steel Frame of India.”
