Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to his New Zealand counterpart, Christopher Luxon, for the warm reception upon his arrival in Auckland, marking the first visit by an Indian PM to New Zealand in 40 years. PM Modi highlighted the historic significance of the visit and anticipated fruitful discussions with PM Luxon on enhancing bilateral relations. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that this visit would bolster ties and open up new avenues of cooperation in various sectors like trade, defense, sports, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

PM Modi, after concluding his visit to Australia, was warmly welcomed by PM Luxon at the Auckland airport, where the two leaders shared a warm embrace. The visit aims to review and strengthen the comprehensive relationship between India and New Zealand, particularly focusing on advancements in trade, commerce, and defense over the past two years. PM Modi is scheduled to engage with key figures from the business and sports sectors and address the Indian diaspora in New Zealand during his stay.

The camaraderie between PMs Modi and Luxon was evident as they greeted each other at the airport, setting the stage for discussions that encompass the broad spectrum of bilateral ties.
