Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak at four rallies in tribal-dominated areas of West Bengal amidst the ongoing campaigning for the upcoming two-phase Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state committee member mentioned that PM Modi is expected to highlight the issues faced by tribal communities and criticize the Trinamool Congress-led government for neglecting their concerns over the past 15 years.
The Prime Minister is likely to address the recent controversy surrounding the alleged disrespect shown to President Droupudi Murmu during her visit to West Bengal. Additionally, PM Modi is anticipated to strongly criticize the Trinamool Congress for obstructing the Women’s Reservation (Amendment) Bill, along with other opposition parties.
PM Modi’s campaign rallies will commence in Barjora, Bankura district, followed by Purulia, Jhargram, and Medinipur districts. The political atmosphere in the state has intensified following the Prime Minister’s recent address to the nation, expressing regret over the defeat of the Constitutional Amendment Bill aimed at implementing women’s reservation in legislative bodies.
The Trinamool Congress has criticized PM Modi’s address, labeling it as self-pity and an attempt to manipulate women’s political representation for ulterior motives. In response, the CPI(M) in West Bengal accused the Prime Minister of misleading the public and promoting divisive politics by using the Women’s Bill controversy to divert attention from women’s reservation issues.
The BJP’s West Bengal unit defended PM Modi’s address, asserting that it exposed how opposition parties exploited the delimitation issue to block the Women’s Reservation Bill.
