Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Moran in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district to attend an air show and unveil various infrastructure and education projects across the state. The Prime Minister will start his day by departing from New Delhi early Saturday morning and landing at Chabua airport around 7.15 a.m. Following this, he will head to Moran in Upper Assam to witness an air show featuring advanced aerial maneuvers.
The air show, along with the inauguration of an Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) for aircraft on the national highway at Moran, is considered a significant event, emphasizing the increasing strategic importance of Upper Assam and the state’s role in India’s defense and aviation readiness. Security measures have been heightened in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit, with senior officials overseeing preparations closely.
Later in the day, around 1 p.m., Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a long-awaited bridge over the Brahmaputra River linking Guwahati with North Guwahati. This bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, shorten travel times, and enhance connectivity between the northern and southern banks of the Brahmaputra River.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati at Bongora. The establishment of IIM Guwahati is seen as a significant advancement in higher education in the Northeast, focusing on nurturing management talent and fostering regional growth.
In a move aimed at sustainable urban mobility, Prime Minister Modi will also launch an additional 100 electric buses for Guwahati. The introduction of electric buses is part of a broader effort to enhance public transportation, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance air quality in the city. State officials have highlighted that the Prime Minister’s visit underscores the Central government’s ongoing commitment to Assam’s infrastructure, education, and urban development sectors. Extensive preparations have been put in place at all venues to ensure the smooth execution of the Prime Minister’s planned one-day visit to Assam.
