Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the fifth National Conference of Chief Secretaries in New Delhi on December 27-28. The conference will focus on enhancing India’s human capital as part of the country’s development towards a Viksit Bharat. Chief Secretaries from all States and Union Territories, along with senior officials and experts, will convene to discuss key national development priorities.
The conference, themed “Human Capital for Viksit Bharat,” aims to foster cooperation between the Centre and States in line with the vision of cooperative federalism. It seeks to shift the focus from considering India’s population as a demographic dividend to treating citizens as valuable human capital. The event will explore strategies to bolster education systems, promote skill development, and create employment opportunities nationwide.
During the three-day conference, participants will work on finalizing a common development agenda with a special emphasis on Early Childhood Education, Schooling, Skilling, Higher Education, and Sports & Extracurricular Activities. Additionally, six special sessions are planned to cover topics like Deregulation in States, Technology in Governance, AgriStack for Smart Supply Chain, and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
The conference will also feature discussions on Heritage & Manuscript Preservation, Digitisation, and Ayush for All to highlight the government’s commitment to cultural preservation and holistic healthcare. This annual event, which has been held for the past four years, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping India’s development path in the upcoming years.
