Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on April 28 for a two-day trip. During this visit, he will unveil and lay the foundation stone for 163 development projects totaling around Rs 6,300 crore. These projects cover various sectors like infrastructure, connectivity, and public amenities aimed at enhancing the overall development of Varanasi, also known as Kashi.
One of the key projects is a proposed signature bridge over the Ganga River, expected to enhance urban connectivity and become a significant landmark in the city. Additionally, the Prime Minister will virtually launch two Amrit Bharat Express trains, connecting Varanasi to Pune and Ayodhya to Mumbai, thereby improving long-distance rail connectivity across important regions.
Elaborate arrangements have been made for a major public outreach program during the visit, with the Prime Minister scheduled to address a gathering of over 50,000 women under the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ program at the BLW ground in Varanasi. Special measures, such as water coolers and misting systems, have been installed at the venue to ensure the comfort of attendees due to the prevailing heat conditions.
Security measures have been intensified across the city in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit, with more than 700 women police personnel deployed, especially considering the significant participation of women in the event. Advanced anti-drone systems, extensive CCTV surveillance, and multi-layered security personnel deployment have been put in place to ensure a safe and smooth program.
On the second day of his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to visit the iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple for prayers. There is a possibility of an unannounced roadshow covering approximately 12 kilometers, with administrative preparations already in progress. This visit holds importance in terms of development initiatives and political outreach, highlighting Varanasi’s significance in the Prime Minister’s constituency engagements.
