Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Seychelles President Patrick Herminie visited the National Botanical Garden of Seychelles in Victoria during PM Modi’s State Visit to the archipelagic island. They fed large turtles, including the 194-year-old Jonathan, the world’s oldest living land animal. The leaders also planted a tree and interacted with staff explaining the garden’s flora and fauna.
PM Modi’s visit to Seychelles was to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country’s National Day as the Guest of Honour and to enhance bilateral cooperation. President Herminie and top ministers warmly welcomed PM Modi at the airport, where cultural performances, including a dance from Kutch, greeted him. PM Modi appreciated the cultural connection and the warm reception by the Indian diaspora.
Expressing gratitude for the welcome, PM Modi highlighted Seychelles as a valued maritime partner and close friend in the Indian Ocean. He looked forward to strengthening ties and cooperation for the benefit of both nations’ people. As they headed to the National Botanical Garden, PM Modi shared a light moment with President Herminie, capturing the friendly atmosphere.
