Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store for the warm welcome at the airport, aiming to enhance the friendship between the two nations. PM Modi’s agenda in Norway includes attending the third India-Nordic Summit and engaging in bilateral discussions with Norwegian leaders. He is scheduled to meet King Harald V and Queen Sonja and participate in the India-Norway Business and Research Summit alongside PM Store.
The Ministry of External Affairs described Norway as a valuable partner for India, emphasizing that PM Modi’s visit will invigorate the partnership. The visit is significant as it marks PM Modi’s first official trip to Norway and the first Prime Ministerial visit from India to Norway in over four decades. The focus of the visit will be on reviewing and strengthening India-Norway relations, particularly in trade, investment, clean and green technology, and the blue economy.
PM Modi’s visit to Norway follows his trip to Sweden and is expected to boost bilateral trade, which currently stands at around $2.73 billion. Additionally, the visit aims to leverage investments from Norway’s Government Pension Fund, totaling close to $28 billion in the Indian capital market. The visit underscores the commitment to enhancing economic cooperation and fostering mutual growth between India and Norway.
