In Bihar’s Gopalganj district, police apprehended a man and a woman during a routine vehicle inspection, seizing around 95 grams of heroin from them. The incident took place near Bahorahata bridge during a police vehicle-checking operation. The duo, riding a black Apache motorcycle, tried to escape upon seeing the police but were quickly intercepted.
The officers discovered 135 small packets of heroin, totaling approximately 95 grams, hidden in a bag carried by the arrested individuals. The suspects, identified as Harkesh Singh (43) and Roshan Tara, both residents of Gopalganj district, were also found with a mobile phone and cash in their possession. Following their arrest, a formal seizure list was prepared on-site, and their families were notified.
During interrogation, the accused failed to provide satisfactory explanations, raising suspicions of their involvement in a larger drug trafficking network. Authorities are now focused on identifying other individuals linked to this supply chain. Rajesh Kumar, Sadar SDPO-2, Sidhwalia range, mentioned that the suspects were detained under suspicious circumstances during routine checks and the recovery of multiple heroin packets led to their immediate arrest. An FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been lodged at Manjhagarh police station, with ongoing investigations to expose the full extent of the network and apprehend other culprits.
