Police teams in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau and Ghazipur districts carried out extensive raids at various locations in search of Afsha Ansari, the wife of the late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and an alleged associate of the IS-191 gang. Afsha Ansari has been evading authorities for a significant period and is the subject of a Rs 50,000 reward in both Mau and Ghazipur districts, with a lookout circular issued against her.
Raids were conducted at seven suspected hideouts across Mau and Ghazipur districts, including locations where Afsha Ansari was believed to be hiding, as confirmed by Ghazipur Superintendent of Police Iraj Raja. Afsha Ansari is wanted in connection with cases related to the IS-191 gang, and the police are analyzing information gathered during the searches and collecting electronic evidence.
The Superintendent of Police expressed optimism about the imminent arrest of Afsha Ansari and mentioned that other gang members involved in criminal activities are also under police surveillance. Searches were carried out at the residences of several individuals, including former Mau Municipal Chairman Tayyab Palki, as part of the operations to locate Afsha Ansari and other suspects.
One of the significant raids took place at Tayyab Palki’s residence in Mau city’s Mirzahadipura area, where police teams conducted a thorough search operation. Despite questioning women members of the household and verifying identities, no trace of Afsha Ansari was found during the operation, leading to the police’s return without any arrests made.
The raids have caused concern among supporters and associates of Mukhtar Ansari in the region, with records indicating that Afsha Ansari, residing in Yusufpur, Ghazipur district, faces numerous criminal cases. Various charges, including fraud, forgery, and offenses under different acts and sections, have been filed against her at police stations in Mau and Ghazipur districts.
Following the raids, Tayyab Palki criticized the police actions as politically motivated, asserting that he had no direct involvement with Afsha Ansari or her family. He alleged that the repeated police actions against him were orchestrated by political adversaries. Meanwhile, Mau Circle Officer Krish Rajpoot confirmed the joint efforts of Mau and Ghazipur Police to locate and apprehend the wanted accused in the Dakshin Tola area.
