A police constable in Madhapur was injured when a car struck him while attempting to halt the vehicle during a car racing event involving a group of youths. The constable, identified as Ramesh, sustained a hand fracture in the incident that occurred near Niluofer Cafe. Videos shared on social media depicted multiple young individuals gathering to witness the car racing and stunts.
Three policemen armed with lathis intervened to stop a car causing disturbance with a modified silencer. Despite attempts to halt the vehicle, the driver intentionally hit one of the constables, resulting in a fractured hand for the officer. Subsequently, the driver was apprehended by the Cyberabad Police. Weekends in the IT corridor witness numerous youths engaging in risky car and bike racing activities, despite repeated warnings from law enforcement.
During a crackdown on drunk driving over the weekend, Cyberabad Police detained 294 offenders, with a majority riding two-wheelers. Offenders were classified based on their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels, with varying degrees of intoxication detected among those apprehended. The police emphasized the severity of driving under the influence, warning of stringent legal consequences for individuals causing accidents while intoxicated.
In the preceding week, the courts addressed 156 cases of drunk driving, resulting in fines, imprisonment, and community service for the offenders. The police reiterated the legal ramifications under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 for individuals involved in fatal accidents due to driving under the influence of alcohol.
