A tragic incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district claimed the life of a police constable and left three others injured. The accident occurred in Ongole town when a car collided with several vehicles on the bypass road. The car driver lost control, hitting the constable who was riding a bicycle.
The constable, identified as Mariyadas, fell onto the service road and suffered critical injuries, resulting in his death at the scene. Following the initial collision with the bicycle, the car went on to hit an auto-rickshaw carrying garbage and a two-wheeler, causing minor injuries to three other individuals. Reports indicated that a female doctor, returning from a conference, was in the car at the time of the accident.
District Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan visited the accident site, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha expressed condolences over the constable’s death and pledged support to his family. She emphasized the government’s commitment to providing necessary assistance to the bereaved family and ensuring support for the injured individuals.
In a separate incident in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district, two individuals lost their lives when an unidentified vehicle collided with a tractor on the Kolkata-Chennai national highway. The victims, identified as Srinu and Kadali Rajender, were laborers from Devarapalle. Police have launched an investigation to locate the vehicle responsible for the fatal collision.
