In a successful operation under the “Nasha-Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan,” Ganderbal police seized around 580 grams of charas-like material from a cowshed in Khanan Kangan. The suspect, Javed Ahmad Dar, was taken into custody following the recovery.
The police, along with an Executive Magistrate and the Lumberdar, conducted a thorough search at the location after receiving credible information. A case FIR No. 31/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered promptly in this regard.
The authorities are now investigating the case further to establish any connections related to the drug trafficking. Ganderbal police emphasizes its dedication to eliminating the drug menace and urges the public to assist by sharing any relevant information.
J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha had earlier announced stringent actions, including the cancellation of passports and attachment of property, against drug smugglers as part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan.’ Security forces are actively conducting anti-smuggling operations, targeting not only drug trafficking but also hawala money rackets believed to fund terrorism in the region.
