Police in Srinagar district have seized property worth Rs 2 crore from notorious drug peddlers as part of their crackdown on drug trafficking. The properties, located in Chanapora and Qamarwari areas, were attached under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan. One of the properties, a double-storey house worth around Rs 1 crore, belonged to Huzaif Shabir Dar, involved in a drug trafficking case.
In a separate action, another double-storey house was attached belonging to Basit Ahmad Baba, a known drug peddler. The properties were acquired through illicit proceeds from drug trafficking, leading to their attachment under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The owners are prohibited from any transactions involving the properties until further notice.
These actions are part of Srinagar Police’s efforts to disrupt the financial networks of drug peddlers by targeting assets obtained through illegal drug trade. The police emphasize their commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking through legal measures against offenders and assets derived from illegal drug activities. The public is urged to assist the police by sharing information on drug peddling to create a safer, drug-free society.
