Police in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against those spreading deliberate false and misleading information. This action comes in response to the circulation of distorted narratives and unverified content by certain news channels, media outlets, and individuals on electronic and social media platforms.
Authorities have identified several profiles involved in spreading misinformation and have summoned them to the Cyber Cell for investigation. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found to be part of these campaigns. Srinagar Police have emphasized that spreading fake news or unverified information will result in severe legal consequences.
To maintain law and order, restrictions have been imposed in the entire Kashmir Valley, with schools, colleges, and universities closed. Exams scheduled for the day have been postponed, and internet speed has been reduced to prevent the spread of provocative content. Heavy security forces deployment has been implemented at sensitive locations to ensure peace and order.
