A Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Vadodara were apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant. The complainant, identified as a “vigilant citizen,” reported that PSI Mallika Parmar demanded money to expedite bail proceedings in a case.
The demand was initially Rs 25,000 but was later negotiated down to Rs 10,000. The bribe was allegedly facilitated through ASI Jaykishan Gameti. The ACB conducted a trap operation near Manjalpur Police Station, where the ASI accepted the money on behalf of the PSI.
Both officials were caught red-handed, and the full amount of Rs 10,000 was recovered on the spot. The ACB mentioned that the investigation followed a formal complaint and verification process before the trap was set. Legal actions under the Prevention of Corruption Act are now in progress.
In a separate incident, the ACB also nabbed a Police Sub-Inspector and a head constable in Ahmedabad for a bribery case involving Rs five lakh. Initially demanding Rs 10 lakh, they settled for Rs 5 lakh before being caught in a trap operation. Although the PSI was not present during the operation, the head constable was apprehended while accepting the money.
