Political fervor is escalating in Patna as the Bankipur Assembly by-election approaches, seen as a crucial battle for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stronghold of Bankipur has heightened interest in the upcoming by-election. Janata Dal (United) National Working President Sanjay Jha emphasized the democratic right of individuals to contest elections, with the electorate holding the ultimate decision-making power.
Describing the by-election as significant, Jha highlighted the prestige attached to the Bankipur seat for the NDA. He expressed optimism about the alliance’s prospects, citing positive feedback from party members and supporters. Former MLA Nitin Nabin, who vacated the seat upon his Rajya Sabha election, was acknowledged for his impactful political role in the constituency.
The by-election gained prominence with the announcement of Prashant Kishor as the candidate for Jan Suraaj, marking his electoral debut. The BJP is yet to reveal its candidate, setting the stage for a competitive multi-cornered contest. Tej Pratap Yadav’s Janshakti Janata Dal has nominated Veena Manvi, while the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) led by Pashupati Kumar Paras is also gearing up to field a candidate.
As various parties gear up for the contest and Prashant Kishor enters the electoral arena, the Bankipur by-election is anticipated to be a closely watched political showdown in Bihar. Polling is scheduled for July 30, with vote counting set for August 3.
