Political activity has heightened in Patna as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) gears up for a significant event commemorating the death anniversary of socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. The Patna Municipal Corporation has initiated the removal of RJD flags and banners from various locations in the city, sparking displeasure among party members.
The Leader of the Opposition and RJD National Working President, Tejashwi Yadav, has urged party workers to actively participate in the upcoming program. The RJD plans to mark the death anniversary of Karpoori Thakur at the Bapu Auditorium, expecting a large turnout of party officials and supporters.
Preparations for the event have included the display of posters, hoardings, and party flags at key points throughout Patna, such as the Income Tax roundabout. However, the municipal corporation’s decision to clear party flags from a prominent intersection ahead of the event has stirred political debates in the city.
Party workers have expressed astonishment at the move, while municipal officials have clarified that it was a routine action concerning public property and traffic management. The event, coinciding with the ongoing Budget Session of the Bihar Assembly, holds significant political importance and is anticipated to be a major gathering addressed by Tejashwi Yadav.
The program is seen as an effort to bolster the party’s grassroots organization and motivate its members. In addition to organizational aspects, the event will pay tribute to the ideology, struggles, and contributions of Karpoori Thakur, a key figure in Bihar’s social justice politics.
