The political dispute over the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road in Patna has escalated, with the ruling NDA and opposition RJD exchanging allegations. Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi continues to occupy the residence despite eviction notices from the state government. The bungalow was assigned to Bihar’s Minister for Dairy, Fisheries, and Animal Resources, Nand Kishore Ram.
The minister claimed that Rabri Devi refused to vacate the bungalow due to his Dalit background, sparking a strong reaction from RJD leader Rohini Acharya. Rohini accused the BJP of holding anti-Dalit views and denied that her mother’s stance was influenced by the minister’s caste. She criticized the BJP for alleged discrimination against Dalits and highlighted incidents of atrocities against the community in different states.
Rohini defended her parents, emphasizing their efforts in enhancing political representation for Dalits and marginalized groups in Bihar. She dismissed the allegations against her mother as politically driven and stressed that the issue should not be viewed through a caste perspective. Rohini argued that the pressure on Rabri Devi was politically motivated, reflecting broader ideological disparities between the RJD and the BJP.
The controversy originated when the Bihar government began the process of reassigning the historic 10 Circular Road bungalow, a long-standing residence of Rabri Devi and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. This issue has now become a significant political focal point, attracting responses from leaders across the political spectrum.
