A political controversy has escalated in Tamil Nadu following remarks made about actor Rajinikanth by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) executive Aadhav Arjuna. Arjuna’s comments at a recent party meeting sparked widespread condemnation and drew a strong response from Rajinikanth himself. The veteran actor refuted the claims, calling them false, and thanked those who supported him.
In a statement, Rajinikanth emphasized that the truth would prevail, stating, “Time will not speak, but it waits and gives its answer.” He clarified that the allegations against him were unfounded and misrepresented. A meeting of TVK executives in Chennai, attended by senior leaders like Aadhav Arjuna, Sengottaiyan, and Nanjil Sampath, addressed the controversy directly.
The tension heightened when Ashok, a former district secretary of the Rajinikanth fan club, challenged Arjuna during the meeting over his remarks. Arjuna, in response, expressed regret for his comments and publicly apologized. He clarified that his statements were not meant to belittle Rajinikanth but rather to address a political narrative influenced by the ruling DMK.
During the meeting, Arjuna reiterated TVK’s independent political stance, stating that the party would contest all 234 Assembly constituencies. He disclosed rejecting political offers, including power-sharing arrangements, in favor of advocating for what he termed a “genuinely secular government.” Arjuna apologized to Rajinikanth for any unintended hurt caused, emphasizing that his aim was to discuss broader political issues.
