Political leaders from the BJP and its allies have expressed their support for West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi’s decision to dissolve the Legislative Assembly. They emphasized that this move aligns with constitutional provisions following the Assembly’s term expiration and the Trinamool Congress government’s electoral defeat led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
BJP MP Rahul Sinha criticized Mamata Banerjee for not resigning after the electoral loss, stating that she should have accepted the people’s verdict gracefully. He highlighted the need for dignity in such situations and pointed out the perceived humiliation faced by Banerjee.
Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC from Mumbai noted the BJP’s decisive mandate in the Assembly elections and criticized Mamata Banerjee for holding onto power despite the defeat. She mentioned the significant losses suffered by the Trinamool Congress and supported Governor Ravi’s actions to facilitate the BJP’s government formation.
Uttar Pradesh Minister O.P. Rajbhar defended the Governor’s decision, emphasizing the importance of adhering to constitutional norms. He stated that the Governor’s actions were in line with constitutional provisions and necessary due to the situation in West Bengal.
Telangana BJP President N. Ramchandra Rao described the dissolution of the Assembly as a “constitutional necessity.” He explained that once a government’s five-year term concludes, the Legislative Assembly is dissolved as per Article 172, highlighting the procedural nature of the recent developments in West Bengal.
Bihar Minister Shrawon Kumar emphasized the importance of following the law, stating that those who disregard legal norms must face the consequences.
