Political reactions have escalated following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for economic restraint. Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel criticized the PM and BJP for the surge in gold prices and the country’s economic state. Baghel highlighted the PM’s previous silence on the issue when gold prices soared to Rs 1.86 lakh, contrasting with his current stance.
Baghel accused the Centre of neglecting issues during the West Asia conflict and questioned the timing of the PM’s recent statements post-election. He claimed that the Opposition had consistently warned about looming economic challenges, which were disregarded by the BJP leadership. Baghel called for BJP leaders to apologize in light of the PM’s acknowledgment of the economic situation.
In a separate response to Mamata Banerjee’s comments on Opposition unity, Baghel criticized her political stance, referencing her past statements aligning with the BJP. He pointed out Banerjee’s shift in position and questioned her sudden change in approach.
