The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM) is providing financial security to older individuals in the unorganised sector in Madhya Pradesh. Over 3,300 unorganised workers in Neemuch district alone are benefiting from this Central government scheme. Workers aged 18 to 40 with a monthly income below ₹15,000 can enroll in the scheme to secure their future.
A special registration and awareness camp at Neemuch Protein Factory informed workers about the scheme’s benefits. Participants contribute between ₹55 to ₹200 monthly, with the government matching this amount. Upon reaching 60 years, beneficiaries receive a guaranteed monthly pension of ₹3,000. The camp witnessed significant participation, with eligible workers receiving their Shram Yogi Maandhan cards.
Workers shared positive experiences, emphasizing the scheme’s role in ensuring a dignified and secure future for them. Ayush Nagar, a factory worker, praised the scheme for offering an alternative to those unable to contribute to a Provident Fund. Dipesh Ahir highlighted the scheme’s long-term benefits, noting the assurance of a steady pension income post-retirement.
Siddhi Parashar and other workers lauded the PM-SYM as highly beneficial for both the elderly and the working population. Sajjan Singh Chauhan, Labor Inspector for Neemuch District, mentioned ongoing camps to promote the scheme. Workers aged 18 to 40 in the unorganised sector can register for the scheme, ensuring a monthly pension of ₹3,000 upon turning 60.
Beneficiaries can register for the PM-SYM scheme online or through designated centers. This voluntary pension scheme aims to provide social security to unorganised workers, offering a minimum monthly pension of ₹3,000 to those with a monthly income up to ₹15,000. The scheme acknowledges the significant contribution of unorganised sector workers to the nation’s GDP.
