Actress Preity Zinta recently responded to Kareena Kapoor Khan discussing losing the role in ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ to her. In an old video from ‘Koffee With Karan,’ Karan Johar sought Zinta’s reaction to Kapoor’s statement.
Johar, the producer of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho,’ had initially offered the film to Kareena Kapoor. However, reports suggest that Kapoor demanded a remuneration equal to Shah Rukh Khan’s for the movie. On the show, Johar asked Zinta about stepping into Kapoor’s shoes for the film.
Zinta analogized the situation, stating, “You try on a pair of jeans at a store, they fit well, but you don’t buy them. The next person who tries them on and buys them, they belong to them.” She recalled her reaction upon hearing the script and how the film eventually landed in her lap despite Kapoor being the initial choice.
Saif Ali Khan, who was present on the show and is now married to Kareena, also shared his thoughts. He expressed his belief that Zinta was the perfect choice for the role of Naina in the film, emphasizing her suitability for the part.
The film ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ led to a rift between Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor until they collaborated again in ‘Kurbaan,’ which also featured Saif Ali Khan. The movie was produced by Johar.
