The upcoming Premier League season will commence at the Emirates Stadium in London, where Arsenal, the defending champions, will face Coventry City on August 21. Hull City will host Manchester United in the first Saturday lunchtime game on August 22, followed by multiple fixtures at 15:00, including Nottingham Forest vs. Leeds United, Crystal Palace vs. Everton, and Ipswich Town vs. Sunderland. Brentford will play against Tottenham Hotspur to conclude Saturday’s matches.
On Sunday, August 23, Manchester City will play against AFC Bournemouth, while Brighton & Hove Albion will meet Aston Villa at 14:00 due to prior UEFA Conference League participation. Newcastle United will face Liverpool later on Sunday, with Fulham taking on Chelsea on Monday, August 24, to conclude the first Match Round of the season.
The Premier League will start a week later than usual after an extended FIFA World Cup with 48 teams, providing 89 clear days from the previous season’s end and 33 days from the World Cup Final on July 19. The 2026/27 season will span 33 weekends and five midweek Match Rounds, designed to avoid conflicts with UEFA club competition dates.
During the festive period, clubs will have a minimum 60-hour break between fixtures to address the congested schedule within the expanded international calendar. The season will culminate on May 30, 2027, with all matches starting at 16:00. Nine Premier League clubs will participate in UEFA competitions, impacting the scheduling of league games.
The Premier League emphasized its commitment to providing fixture announcements with ample notice but acknowledged potential short-notice changes if clubs progress in European competitions. The season also marks the second year of the new UK broadcast agreements with Sky Sports and TNT Sports, ensuring coverage of a minimum of 215 and 52 matches, respectively.
