President Droupadi Murmu, at an event in Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, introduced the ‘Skill the Nation’ challenge, highlighting Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a catalyst for positive change. She emphasized AI’s role in reshaping global economies and societies, stating it revolutionizes learning, work, services access, and problem-solving. Murmu underlined that for India, AI signifies not just technology but a vast avenue for positive transformation.
President Murmu stressed India’s commitment to leveraging technology to empower individuals, foster inclusivity, and broaden opportunities for all. She emphasized the need for AI to bridge societal, economic, and technological disparities, ensuring its benefits reach people of all backgrounds, particularly those from marginalized groups. Murmu expressed delight in seeing students gearing up for a future brimming with prospects and encouraged them to utilize their skills and knowledge for societal welfare and innovation.
Acknowledging Members of Parliament who completed AI learning modules, President Murmu commended their leadership by embracing emerging technologies. She highlighted AI’s emergence as a key driver of India’s economic growth, projecting its significant contributions to GDP, employment, and overall productivity in the upcoming decade. Murmu emphasized the pivotal role of skills like data science, AI engineering, and data analytics in nurturing India’s AI talent pool.
President Murmu outlined the government’s collaborative efforts with institutions, industry partners, and academia to not only adopt technology but also shape a responsible future through it. She called for collective dedication towards building a developed India aligned with the National Education Policy’s vision of a knowledge superpower and fostering a tech-driven, inclusive, and prosperous nation. The event, organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, underscores the government’s commitment to preparing India’s workforce for an AI-driven future.
President Murmu also virtually inaugurated the IGNOU Regional Centre and Skill Centre in Rairangpur, Odisha.
