The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, urged entrepreneurs and innovators to utilize fintech for promoting social justice and inclusion. Speaking at the Black Swan Summit in Bhubaneswar, she highlighted the positive impact of technological advancements on innovation and growth. President Murmu emphasized the importance of exploring innovative approaches to leverage technology for enhancing skills, creating jobs, and driving digital and financial transformation.
In her address, President Murmu acknowledged the increasing challenges posed by evolving technology, such as cybersecurity threats and misinformation. She noted the significant role played by fintech in facilitating Direct Benefit Transfers and digital payments for various beneficiaries, including farmers, small shopkeepers, and women. The President stressed the need to view women not just as fintech users but also as leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs in the fintech ecosystem.
Furthermore, President Murmu emphasized the necessity of enhancing digital literacy, especially in remote and rural areas, to ensure inclusivity in fintech. She called upon entrepreneurs and innovators to utilize technology as a means to promote social justice, inclusion, employment, and entrepreneurship. Highlighting the potential misuse of technology for financial frauds, she commended the government’s efforts in implementing measures to prevent and report cybercrimes.
President Murmu also lauded the Odisha government’s BharatNetra initiative aimed at fostering a future-ready workforce and innovation ecosystem in digital, financial, and insurance technology sectors. She mentioned the upcoming India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, emphasizing its role in positioning Artificial Intelligence as a strategic tool for inclusive growth and expanding access to opportunities globally.
