President Droupadi Murmu will present Padma Awards for 2026 at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on June 23. The ceremony will have former Union Minister Shibu Soren, Tennis star Vijay Amritraj, actor Mammootty, and singer Alka Yagnik among the 65 awardees. Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries will also attend the event starting at 5 p.m.
In the Second Civil Investiture Ceremony, the President will confer 65 Padma Awards, including two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan, and 56 Padma Shri. The Awards, among the highest civilian honors in India, are given in various fields like art, social work, public affairs, science, literature, sports, and civil service. ‘Padma Vibhushan,’ ‘Padma Bhushan,’ and ‘Padma Shri’ are awarded for exceptional and distinguished service in different categories.
Former Union Minister Shibu Soren will receive a posthumous Padma Bhushan, while P. Narayanan and Justice (retd.) K.T. Thomas will be honored with Padma Vibhushan for Literature and Education and Public Affairs, respectively. Notable awardees include Vijay Amritraj, Mammootty, and Alka Yagnik. The list also includes recipients from the US, Russia, and Georgia, with awards spanning fields like Medicine, Literature, Education, and Sports.
Doctor Dattatreyudu Nori from the US will be awarded Padma Bhushan in Medicine, and Professor Prateek Sharma will receive Padma Shri in the same field. Other recipients include Russia’s Liudmila Khokhlova for Literature and Education, and Georgia’s Vladimer Mestvirishvili posthumously for Sports. Professor Mahendra Nath Roy from West Bengal will be honored with a Padma Shri in Science and Engineering.
