The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit refuted a viral claim on social media alleging that Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mistakenly identified a Chinese robot at Galgotias University as Indian. The claim, made by a handle named “China Pulse,” accused the Minister of misrepresenting the robot’s origin during a public event. However, the official fact-checking body clarified that the Minister did not state that the robot showcased by Galgotias University was Indian.

The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check explicitly stated that there was no mention by the Union Minister that the robot displayed at Galgotias University was of Indian origin. The viral claim, disseminated by the account “China Pulse” (@Eng_china5), alleged that the Minister had misrepresented the robot’s nationality. The Fact Check’s aim is to combat misinformation and ensure accurate reporting of statements by public figures.

Amid rising concerns about misleading information on social media, the Fact Check by the Press Information Bureau plays a crucial role in debunking false claims related to government policies, ministers, and public institutions. This proactive approach helps in preventing confusion among the general public and upholding the integrity of information shared online.
