Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed out more than 61,000 appointment letters to newly recruited individuals at the 18th Rozgar Mela. Addressing them via video link, he stressed the importance of reforms, economic growth, and the youth’s role in nation-building. Modi described the appointment letters as invitations for the recipients to contribute to the nation’s development.

2026 commenced with a focus on instilling hope and reinforcing the bond between citizens and their constitutional responsibilities. The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of recent national events, including Parakram Diwas and the upcoming National Voters’ Day and Republic Day celebrations. He also noted the historical importance of the day in relation to India’s national symbols.

The Rozgar Mela was initiated to streamline government recruitment processes and has evolved into a significant platform over the years. Held at more than 40 locations nationwide, the event saw the distribution of appointment letters to over 8,000 women. Modi praised the increased participation of women in the workforce, citing government schemes like Mudra and Start-up India as catalysts for their empowerment.

Emphasizing the impact of reforms on business and daily life, Modi mentioned the benefits reaped from initiatives like the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He highlighted India’s progress as a manufacturing hub, with notable growth in sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, defense, and automobiles. The Prime Minister also lauded the growth in female self-employment and the rise of women leaders in various sectors.
