Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that BRICS, under India’s Chairmanship, aims to strengthen multilateralism, promote sustainable development, enhance economic resilience, and foster a more inclusive world order. Foreign Ministers and Delegates from BRICS nations met PM Modi in the capital for the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Modi highlighted BRICS as a crucial platform for cooperation among emerging economies and representing the Global South’s aspirations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held discussions with PM Modi on various regional and global issues, including the situations in Ukraine and West Asia. Modi reiterated India’s stance on resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy during the meeting. Lavrov updated Modi on the progress in bilateral cooperation since their last meeting in December 2025 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
The two-day BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, chaired by EAM Jaishankar, commenced in New Delhi under India’s leadership. The meeting includes the participation of foreign ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries and partner nations.
