A proclaimed offender linked to a Rs 60 lakh cheating case was apprehended by the Delhi Police’s IP Estate Police Station at the domestic terminal of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The arrest followed extensive technical surveillance and manual intelligence efforts.
The capture was part of a special initiative by the Central District Police targeting proclaimed offenders and absconders. The arrested individual, Mukesh Kumar (39), hails from Techzone-4, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
A specialized team, led by Sub-Inspector Gaurav Dalal and including Head Constable Lalit, Constable Prakash, and Constable Ramjilal, was assembled under the supervision of the IP Estate Police Station’s SHO and the guidance of ACP Kamla Market. The team diligently utilized technical and human intelligence to track down the accused.
On receiving specific information on July 10 about Mukesh Kumar’s presence at the IGI Airport’s domestic terminal, the police swiftly acted on the tip-off. They conducted a successful raid, leading to the apprehension of the accused individual.
Upon verification, it was discovered that Mukesh Kumar had been declared a proclaimed offender in FIR No. 293/2024 under Sections 420, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at IP Estate Police Station. The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Preeti at Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi, declared him a proclaimed offender on July 25, 2025.
The accused had been deliberately avoiding legal proceedings to evade punishment. Legal actions are underway as per due process.
In a separate incident earlier that day, Delhi Police uncovered a ‘self-staged’ robbery involving Rs 37.5 lakh within 24 hours of the incident. Three suspects, including two employees of the victim company, were arrested, and the majority of the stolen amount was recovered.
