A protest broke out in Ranchi’s Doranda police station area following the death of a youth who was injured in an assault. The deceased, identified as Mohammad Tanveer Ansari from Manitola in Ranchi, passed away during treatment after sustaining serious injuries in the assault. Agitated family members and locals placed his body outside the police station, blocking the road, and demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.
After Tanveer’s death, his relatives brought his body to the Doranda police station from RIMS, sparking a protest that caused traffic disruption on the main road. Allegations were made by protesters that the police had not taken prompt and strict action against the accused, leading to the emboldening of the perpetrators. The family is seeking the swift arrest of the named accused individuals and compensation for the victim’s family.
The FIR lodged with Doranda police station named Mohammad Javed, Rizwan, and Golden alias Ijaz, all residents of Firdous Nagar in the Manitola area, as the accused in the attack on Tanveer Ansari. The complaint detailed how the accused had intercepted Tanveer near Hindustan Chowk on Tuesday and assaulted him with an iron rod, causing critical head injuries that required around 40 stitches. Local residents rushed Tanveer to Doranda Hospital after the attack, and he was later transferred to different medical facilities for treatment, ultimately succumbing to his injuries in a private hospital in Kokar.
Tanveer’s wife, Khateja Khatoon, in her complaint, also mentioned that the accused had threatened to harm the family. Police officials have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to apprehend the accused individuals.
