People in West Bengal’s Falta Assembly constituency protested against alleged “hooliganism” by Trinamool Congress activists. Locals claimed that voting in the area has been “rigged” for the past 15 years and demanded re-polling before the Assembly election results on May 4.
Residents in the Hashim Nagar area accused Trinamool Congress leader Israfil Chakdar of threatening women and children. They reported that Chakdar, accompanied by ‘bike bahini’ (bike squads), intimidated women, threatened violence, and made disturbing remarks.
The locals also alleged that fair voting had not occurred during the Trinamool Congress’ rule in the area. They insisted on re-polling at booth number 109 to ensure a proper electoral process.
Accusations were made against the West Bengal Police for using force to disperse the crowd. A woman highlighted the lack of safety, stating that police were resorting to violence against women and girls in the area.
Residents expressed concerns about being prevented from working and earning money due to threats and intimidation by alleged Trinamool Congress supporters. They claimed that individuals were coerced to vote for a specific party against their will.
