A proxy candidate was apprehended during the Kolkata Police Sub-Inspector recruitment exam in the city. The individual, identified as Lakhai Ghosh, was taking the exam on behalf of Abdul Khaleque, the actual aspirant. Suspicion arose when discrepancies were noticed between Ghosh’s details and the original candidate’s information.
Ghosh, a resident of Murshidabad, managed to participate in the exam undetected until his mismatched signature raised concerns. Upon verification, it was confirmed that Ghosh was not the legitimate candidate. Subsequently, Ghosh was detained by police for questioning regarding the fraudulent activity.
Authorities are now investigating the possibility of a larger conspiracy involving financial arrangements or a racket behind the proxy candidate incident. This incident follows previous malpractice allegations during the Kolkata Police constable recruitment exam, leading to multiple arrests and the discovery of a network facilitating fraudulent activities.
