Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann distributed seed grants totaling Rs 1.07 crore among 31 startups and their founders, emphasizing the importance of startups for the state’s economic growth. The grants are part of the Punjab Startup and Industrial Policy of 2026, with seven startups receiving Rs 5 lakh each and 24 startups receiving Rs 3 lakh each.
Mann highlighted the role of startups in creating job opportunities and preventing youth from seeking employment abroad. He noted that the state government is dedicated to supporting innovative ideas through financial assistance. Mann also praised the impact of initiatives like free electricity and other reforms in delivering direct benefits to the people.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that with continued support for entrepreneurship and innovation, Punjab is poised to become a leading startup hub in India. He commended the young entrepreneurs for their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, stating that they are transforming their dreams into reality with deserving support.
Drawing parallels between entrepreneurship and politics, Mann likened the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to a startup that revolutionized the political landscape by challenging dynastic politics. He credited the people of Punjab for choosing honest governance in the 2022 Assembly elections, which has propelled the state to the forefront of progress in the country.
