Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann revealed that the initial payment for three months under the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of eligible women over 18 on July 1. Dalit women will receive Rs 4,500, while others will get Rs 3,000.
During a Lok Milni event in Chanarthal Kalan village, CM Mann emphasized the AAP government’s dedication to providing dignity, financial stability, and social empowerment to women through this scheme. The financial aid will be a continuous support as long as the government remains in Punjab.
On July 1, eligible women above 18 will receive notifications on their mobile phones about the financial assistance being credited to their accounts. General category women will receive Rs 1,000 monthly, while Scheduled Caste women will get Rs 1,500. The funds will be directly transferred to their bank accounts without intermediaries.
The scheme also includes women already receiving social security pensions. Nearly 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this initiative, with the state government allocating Rs 9,300 crore for it. The Chief Minister highlighted that while the financial aid may not make women wealthy, it will provide them with dignity, self-respect, and confidence.
Stressing the importance of women’s financial independence for household welfare and gender equality, CM Mann emphasized that empowering women economically leads to family prosperity and societal progress. He reassured that every legitimate voter in Punjab will be safeguarded during the ongoing SIR exercise by the Election Commission of India.
Mann criticized previous leaders for their lack of interaction with the public and highlighted his commitment to being accessible to the people at all times. He affirmed that public service is not occasional but a continuous responsibility for him.
