Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has emphasized the need for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to address concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process openly. Mann stated that transparency is crucial to maintain public trust in democracy. He highlighted the importance of a credible examination of the SIR to ensure its legitimacy and prevent the creation of a fake electorate that could threaten democracy.
Mann also stressed the significance of addressing doubts related to the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other constitutional bodies. He called for clear explanations and satisfactory responses to any objections raised. The Chief Minister underlined the necessity for these bodies to conduct proper inspections and provide transparent information to the public.
Commenting on the political landscape in Gujarat, Mann noted the strengthening of AAP’s organizational structure in the state. He mentioned the positive reception of AAP’s initiatives in Gujarat, signaling a desire for change among the people. Mann expressed optimism about extending AAP’s successful education and healthcare model, pioneered by Arvind Kejriwal, to Gujarat.
In addition, Mann extended condolences for the tragic death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. He offered prayers for the departed soul’s peace and paid tribute to Pawar. Mann also highlighted Punjab’s historical contributions to the nation, emphasizing the state’s sacrifices during critical periods like the Green Revolution. He reiterated Punjab’s claim to Chandigarh as its rightful capital and expressed concerns over the lack of a separate capital and High Court for the state.
