Punjab Police, in collaboration with Central agencies, apprehended three key individuals associated with fugitive gangster Happy Jatt near the Indo-Bhutan border in West Bengal. The arrests were made as the suspects tried to escape to Bhutan, following a well-coordinated operation named “Operation Nest Wrecker.” The arrested individuals are Jatin Singh from Amritsar, Sajandeep Singh from Tarn Taran, and Mehakdeep Singh from Amritsar.
Jatin Singh, one of the detainees, has a criminal record with various cases registered against him under the arms Act and the NDPS Act. The arrests are linked to a shooting incident in Bhoma village, Batala district, where two individuals lost their lives due to bullet injuries inflicted by four unidentified assailants on motorcycles.
According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were following the orders of Happy Jatt, a fugitive based abroad, and carried out the killings as planned. The accused were found to be frequently changing locations to avoid capture. Authorities are now delving deeper into the conspiracy, including financial aspects, weapon procurement, and the involvement of other associates in the case.
Additional Director General of Police Promod Ban disclosed that police teams, including the Anti-Gangster Task Force, Batala Police, and intelligence units, conducted a thorough investigation post the incident. By analyzing extensive CCTV footage and utilizing technical and intelligence data, the movement of the suspects towards the international border was confirmed, leading to their swift arrest.
