Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force, in collaboration with Central agencies and Tripura Police, has apprehended Aditya Kapoor, a shooter involved in the murder of kabaddi promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh, also known as Rana Balachauria, as confirmed by State Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. Aditya Kapoor, hailing from Amritsar, was captured in Agartala, Tripura, and has a criminal record with 14 cases related to serious offenses like murder, extortion, and armed robbery.
This breakthrough follows the earlier arrests of two shooters, Karan Pathak and Tarandeep Singh, along with their associate Akashdeep in Howrah, West Bengal. The victim, Rana Balachauria, was fatally shot during a kabaddi tournament in Mohali on December 15, 2025. So far, a total of six suspects, including three shooters, have been taken into custody.
DGP Yadav revealed that Aditya, also known as Makhan, and his accomplices carried out the planned killing under the instructions of foreign-based handlers. Despite the capture of his associates earlier, Aditya had managed to evade arrest until now. With his apprehension, all individuals involved in this high-profile murder case are now in custody.
Operational details shared by Additional Director General of Police Promod Ban indicated that the arrest of Aditya was a result of an interstate operation named “Shadow Hunt.” Acting on specific information, a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Parminder Singh was dispatched to Agartala, where Aditya was successfully apprehended by the Anti-Gangster Task Force.
