Russia’s President Vladimir Putin criticized the Ukrainian armed forces for their assault on a college in Starobilsk, Luhansk. Putin, speaking to graduates of the ‘Time of Heroes’ program, denounced the “Neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv” for what he called a “terrorist attack” on a student dormitory. The attack, which occurred at night while students were asleep, was strongly condemned by Putin.
The Russian Foreign Ministry blamed the Kyiv regime for atrocities against children in Starobilsk, holding them accountable for escalating hostilities and hindering diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict. The ministry accused the Kyiv regime of unleashing inhumane terror on defenseless children, marking a new phase in the conflict. The ministry also alleged that the Kyiv regime received support from NATO in carrying out such strikes.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the attack on the college dormitory was intentional and targeted civilians, resembling tactics used by the German Nazis. The ministry emphasized that none of the individuals in the building were involved in hostilities, and there were no military installations nearby. The ministry called on international bodies, governments, and the public to denounce the assault in Starobilsk.
A total of 86 children aged 14-18 were inside the five-story dormitory building of the Lugansk State Pedagogical University in Starobilsk during the attack. Reports indicate that 40 individuals sustained injuries, while four lost their lives.
