UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also urged renewed commitment to the NPT, emphasizing the treaty’s pivotal role in preventing nuclear weapon use and proliferation. Guterres warned of eroding treaty commitments and escalating proliferation risks, calling for collective action to uphold disarmament and non-proliferation efforts. He highlighted the emerging threats posed by evolving technologies and stressed the importance of reinforcing the norm against nuclear testing.
