Amid escalating tensions, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the need for Iran to cease its attacks and avoid expanding the conflict regionally, emphasizing that such actions would only fuel instability. Additionally, Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, discussed regional developments with the UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, expressing concerns over Iranian aggression and its implications for security and stability. The leaders emphasized the importance of de-escalation and diplomatic solutions to prevent further conflict escalation.
In response to Iranian attacks, Qatar and several other nations, including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, held a consultative meeting condemning the deliberate targeting of residential areas and critical infrastructure by Iran. The participating countries denounced these attacks, stressing the right of states to self-defense under the United Nations Charter. They called on Iran to halt its aggression, adhere to international law, and engage in diplomatic efforts to restore security and stability in the region.
